It's a hell of a thing to see, though I confess I am about done with the less glamorous aspects of sailing. [He chuckles, waving a hand.] Bad food and never enough of it, storms, leaks, watches at all hours, and that's before one gets to the life-or-death battles....

I'd like to see your New York. Could trade you for Nassau, and see which one of us has the worse parts.

[He tips Angel an amused wink.]

Heh, I think I'd be happy just to see it from the shore. Nice beach...that sounds okay. Less life or death.

[He grins and nods his head.] It's a deal. Though without all the people ya really only get half the picture.

There is that. A city's not a city empty. Though a beach on an island in the tropics is a nice place to spend some time without a crowd around.

[He flashes Angel a grin.]

When my old ship's crew had to careen her, they'd set up a tent on the beach, invite attractive company and hold a barbecue for the occasion. First one I was responsible for, I confess I didn't pay proper attention to the barbecue.

It turned out to cause some small problem, as I was the ship's cook at the time.

Mmm, it does sound nice. Too bad I can' work on my tan no more.

[He snickers at the story, thinking it wasn't surprise at all that he'd found himself distracted.]

Ya seem to have had quite the excitin' life.

[For very different reasons than he's implying, but still.]

Not being the sort to live a safe and quiet life, I wanted to ensure I fit in as much living as possible on the off chance I caught a dagger in the back before becoming obscenely rich and retiring to a private island off the shores of sunny Spain.

[He grins at Angel, and, quite deliberately, stretches out his good leg to press the toe of his boot against Angel's ankle.]

It sounds like the right way to go about livin'. Fittin' as much in while ya can.

[Angel does wish he'd been a little better about that instead of spending so much time trying to get high enough to forget the life he was leading.

His lips quirk at that press, casually returning the touch with those long legs of his.]

At this point, I think it's more how I'm living death. But it might as well be the same thing, considering.

A man's got to go after what he wants when he has the opportunity, or never get it.
