[So the cat says as he knocks on the door just to be polite, as he always does. One day he'll know he's allowed to just walk in, but not today.]

[Angel's a little anxious at how serious it's all turned, though the knock makes him roll his eyes fondly.]

You can come in whenever ya want. [Not the first reminder, as he opens the door for him.] 'specially when I know you're comin'.

[bartenderbitch]

[One day he'll get over that, maybe, perhaps, don't worry about it.

Though he slips in through the door quietly, making sure to close the door behind him. He doesn't... look upset by any stretch, more pensive than anything else.]

Guess so, just feels like something I should do. [He shrugs slowly before moving to perch on the bed, tail oddly still to his side.] It ain't that big of a deal, but just seemed better to talk about it in person.

What's the worst ya could catch me doin'? [There's a quiet tease, though Angel's brows crease at that still tail, taking a seat by Husk and offering a comforting scritch at the back of his ears before dropping his hand again.] Go ahead.

[Rude, Angel. Though it does get a bit of a smile out of him, because he can't really think of something that would bother him if he walked in on it at this point. The scritch is met with him lightly pushing into the hand, which... helps.]

If you didn't want people questioning you, you had to settle down at some point and it ain't as if I had much of a choice when it got to a point of where it became more and more difficult to do the things I was doing. [It required a lot of agility, a lot of smoke and mirrors, which technology made more difficult in his later years. Especially when the mobsters were pushed out of the casino business by big business instead.]

Settled down with a girl that knew the score, at least, got people's attention off of us.

[It's a familiar sort of story. The same sort of life that would've awaited him if he hadn't checked out early. Angel reaches to take Husk's paw and give it a squeeze of understanding.]

Pretty? [Of course that would be Angel's first question.] Her knowin' is something'. [At least he didn't necessarily have to play the role at home.]

[He lightly squeezes his hand in turn, it's a little bit of a sore subject for him, but he's not... going to lie to Angel like that.]

She was a showgirl, so that was part of the job. [He can't help the hint of amusement with that question of all things, good grief.] I mean, don't get me wrong, we... had a thing at a point, too. But it was an understanding that we both needed a cover and no one batted an eye at two performers deciding to hitch up like that. [Nor did anyone question their other flings, other than whispering about if the other knew and if it would break their marriage or whatever.]

Someone's gotta a type. [Angel teases with a soft smile.] Don' sound so bad, far as arrangements go. Any kids?

What? Legs for days, proportions to make models jealous, and taller than me? [He teases back, shifting to lean against Angel and seeming at least far more calm than he had been before.]

It wasn't, she was just as into anything that caught her interest just as much as I was. Marriage of convenience and the sex wasn't that bad, either. [The smallest bit of a shrug.] ... Nah, evidently that was never in the cards for either of us. Dunno if it was her, me, or both of us but at the end of the day that was probably for the better.

Heh~ [It's nice to think he's not that wild of a pick for Husk, at least in this body. He can't help but wonder if he would have found him appealing if things had been different and they met up on Earth.]

...did ya want 'em? [It's a delicate question, he knows, and not something that can change for him now if he had wanted them.]

[It's truly a question for the ages, but if he were asked, he probably still would have been drawn to this absolute mess of a man.]

Mm. Wasn't exactly tryin' for them or anything, but I wouldn't have been upset if we had had any. Though looking back on it, probably wouldn't have been a great environment for a kid, even when we were older we weren't the... sit around and do nothing or do the whole nuclear family shit.

I wouldn'ta minded kids. If I didn' have ta have the wife ta go along with them. [There's a small laugh and Angel shrugs a shoulder.] You two stayed togetha then? [Angel knows distantly that divorce and bachelorhood both became more common and acceptable up top in the years since his death, but it's hard to know when exactly.]

Yeah, shit was... getting better for us [meaning the "not straight" types, clearly] around the time I died, but it still wasn't something that the public really liked. [He shifts to nuzzle into Angel's side and just casually licks through that fur, because he feels like being a brat, mostly.] We did. Matter of convenience and, again, we didn't dislike each other or anything. She did her thing, I did mine, dunno how much longer she lasted after I croaked. [It's... a good question, actually and one he never really bothered to follow up on.]

[The lick earns a snicker, but it feels kinda nice, Angel folding an arm around him.]

Doesn't sound like the worst life. [Maybe not the one Husk wanted for himself, but it could have gone a lot worse. M'glad ya had someone ta share it with.

[There's many things he can do with that tongue and some of them are actually entirely normal shenanigans.]

It wasn't, all the shit that was wrong in my life was my own doing. [He can't help a grin against his neck, right back to nuzzling and the softest bit of a purr.] Starting to look like my afterlife is getting better, too.

[He's getting the feeling he's never going to come out of an interaction with Husk again not soaking wet.]

Mmm- maybe not everything. [Fuck, this cat is too cute.] Mine too. Go figure~

[This is what happens when you get involved with a cat-bird demon, many licks, whether you want it or not. It's a weird stupid form of affection and he's not about to dampen it unless asked directly.]

I think it is everything~ [Who expected the grump to be gooey in the center? Especially since he's decided he wants to just groom that fur at his neck now.] It's almost as if there's a common factor there, can't figure out what that might be for the life of me.

[Who'd have guessed being licked in a non-entirely sexual way would actually be appealing? Maybe it just comes with having fur.

He laughs, and gives Husk a light swat, tilting his chin to offer up more of his neck to that grooming.]


Maybe we're good for each other.

[bartenderbitch]

[It's probably because of the fur even if he fake hisses at the swat before taking that newly offered bit of neck to move his grooming over to it. They're totally normal, of course they are.]

Maybe so, who woulda ever guessed? [Honestly, it's so strange to him that he falls so easily into this sort of routine, something that's so entirely non-sexual and just... affectionate. He hasn't done anything of the sort since he was alive, that much he knows, but this feels right.]

Neva woulda figured ya'd be so cuddly, that's for sure. [Big grumpy cat, and look at him now. Angel would've bet every cent he own against the fact when they'd first met.]

Is it really that hard to believe? [The biggest and grumpiest cat that is only a giant cuddley softie around certain people and only when they've earned it, it's perhaps the most cat thing about him.] Though last I heard, that's a cat thing, so I'll blame that. [Says the man that's currently happily grooming Angel while purring.]

Considering how hard ya'd shove me offa ya, a little. [He teases right back, grin suggesting he really hadn't minded all that much even when he had ended up flat on that ground.]

Did I shove you off me when you stopped acting like a fake shit? [He huffs lightly against his neck, giving a loooong lick up his throat and up to his jawline. Totally not with ulterior motives.]
