[Angel's sure it's Vox even before he catches a glance at the screen, and he does his best to hide his surprise at Val declining. It's not often lately than Angel takes priority over Vox, and he feels a unfair sense of jealousy born pride. It makes him all the more receptive to Val's affection.

His legs dangle off the edge of the counter, and Val towers over him, letting him feel small and cared for, thighs spreading to invite Val closer.

How long do they have before the phone starts off again? Or worse, before Vox is there in the flesh trying to tear Val's attention away?]
