[There's a sympathetic wince from Angel, his brow furrowed softly as he works. He doesn't notice Val's gaze shift at first, not until he speaks and those eyes lift in question.]

Eh, had worse...It's still a bit tender.

[He tacks on a bit of real vulnerability after a short pause. They both know he's had worse. He'll be fine. But of course it still hurts.
